The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the President of the EBRD
On November 16, at the Kuksaroy residence, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso, who arrived in our country to participate in the first meeting of the Foreign Investors Council and the Samarkand Conference on the Interconnectedness between the EU and Central Asia.
The current state and prospects of expanding fruitful cooperation with the EBRD are considered.
The Head of our state noted with satisfaction that over the past six years, Uzbekistan's cooperation with this reputable financial institution has reached an unprecedented level. The Bank is one of the main partners of Uzbekistan in the implementation of important socio-economic programs.
The sides exchanged views on the further expansion of mutually beneficial partnership in such priority areas as the introduction of public-private partnership mechanisms, the implementation of PPP projects in the energy sector, transport and logistics, healthcare, education and housing and communal services, as well as in the field of "green" development and support for women and youth entrepreneurship.
Odile Renaud-Basso highly appreciated the socio-economic reforms carried out in our country and expressed readiness to increase fruitful cooperation.
Practical aspects of preparation for the next year's regular Annual meeting of the Bank's Board of Governors in the city of Samarkand were also discussed.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the adoption of a joint roadmap providing for specific measures to strengthen cooperation between our country and the EBRD.
