Uzbekistan proposed to create a regional Climate Council at COP27
Uzbekistan is ready for active cooperation with the international community in the field of climate change and supports the creation of a regional Climate council. This was stated by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva in a speech at the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27). in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt) 15th of November.
The creation of a regional Climate council will increase the effectiveness of cooperation in promoting climate adaptation projects, combating desertification and land degradation, as well as the introduction of water-saving technologies, the head of the Uzbek delegation at the summit noted.
Only through joint efforts it is possible to counter the problem of climate change, the consequences of which are acutely manifested in Central Asia, Tanzila Narbayeva stressed.
"The main goal of Uzbekistan is to achieve economic progress through the integration of the principles of the "green" economy into the structural reforms being implemented. Low—carbon development and resource conservation in all sectors of the economy, the introduction of efficient and environmentally friendly technologies have been chosen as a priority in this direction," she said.
